Location
The ICS-Uijongbu Campus is about a ten minute walk from the back gate of the U.S. Army Installation, Camp Red Cloud. Or, about a three - four minute walk from the Uijongbu Soccer Stadium.
History of ICS-Korea
Rev. Joe Hale founded Liberty Christian School, Uijongbu, in 1983. The school was initially founded to meet the needs of several missionary families in the Uijongbu area. Because of the number of non-command sponsored children in the area, the school was expanded to include students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade. In 1988, a branch school was started in Tongduchon to meet the needs of the students in the Warrior Country. In 1990, an elementary school was started in the Namsan area of Seoul. It has since expanded to one of the largest Christian schools in Korea. Additionally, around the same time, another branch was started in Songtan, Korea.
Fully Accredited
International Christian School was accepted as a candidate for accreditation in 1988. After an extensive self-study, the schools were visited by the accrediting team from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in April 1991. A dual ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and WASC self-study was completed during 1996-1997, as well as the 2002-2003, school years. ICS-UJB is fully accredited until 2008, at which time the school will undergo another complete self-study for continuing accreditation.
Mission Statement
The mission of International Christian School is to provide an education which will enable the student to be a productive, responsible citizen with a positive world view. Education, being the pursuit of truth, is provided in the context that Jesus Christ is the absolute truth.
